Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine senior staffs perception of the training and development programme run in the University of Cape Coast. It was a descriptive survey design which employed questionnaire to collect the data from a random sample of 240 respondents from the University of Cape Coast. The results of the study showed that though senior staff of the University perceived numerous benefits accruing from the training and development programmes of the institution, they thought the Training and Development Unit did not involve participants in determining their training needs. Additionally, they felt the university did not use the participation in their own training programme as basis for promotion, and no certificate is awarded to participants after the training, hence, some senior staffs are reluctance in participating in the programme.
